Although Side-Out’s programs have their roots in volleyball, anyone can participate in our initiatives! In fact, many of the most successful fundraising school teams include several school groups working together to organize, publicize and fundraise for their event.
- Dig Pink® Rally — The Dig Pink® Rally is The Side-Out Foundation’s October event that brings together students across the nation to raise funds for breast cancer research, demonstrate the power of teamwork and show support for people with the disease.
- Dig Pink® Tour — The Dig Pink® Tour is The Side-Out Foundation’s initiative for the volleyball club season. Teams participate in various ways; some choose to show their support by simply wearing pink the second day of each multi-day tournament, and other teams host tournaments or ask family and friends to donate funds to Side-Out on their behalf. It is a “tour” because teams travel around the country to participate in various volleyball tournaments.
- Rock the Pink™ — The Rock the Pink™ Festival is Side-Out’s flagship event, a grass volleyball tournament held in early-mid June in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The tournament includes both juniors and adults. Donations from team registration and fundraising go toward the research that Side-Out funds. Vendors and music add to the fun…it’s the perfect way to ring in summer! Dogs are welcomed!
- Ambassador Program — The Side-Out Ambassador Program gives students a chance to receive recognition and scholarship funds, encouraging them to continue a life of setting and achieving their goals. Ambassadors raise funds for breast cancer research through a Dig Pink® event while learning important lessons about health, community and perseverance.
