Dance Interpretation of Breast Cancer

Last night I watched “So You Think You Can Dance” on Channel 5. It’s my favorite program on TV. Loving dancing the way I do it is inspirational in general to watch these wonderful dancers challenge their creativity every week. It’s just amazing. Last night they had a dance choreographed to tell the story of a Breast Cancer patient in dance. It was so real, so honest and so beautiful in its honesty there wasn’t a dry eye in the crowd. These 2 dancers expressed without words what it’s like to be a Breast Cancer victim. The torment, the need to continually fight back, the strength it takes emotionally and physically to just survive. I cried with everyone else for the fact that this disease continues to be on people’s minds and that 2 relatively young dancers could achieve that reality without a word spoken. Bravo!

As for me, every day is a gift. At this point in my struggle with this disease. 5 years, I still hold out the hope that great discoveries will be found in the near future to eradicate this dreadful disease. This is the reality – we need to find better & kinder drugs to treat Breast Cancer so that we who have a daily fight against this dreaded disease are able to live with Cancer and still have viable and productive lives.
