AVCA Convention 2015

2015 NCAA Championship

Side-Out staff spent last week in Omaha, Nebraska for the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Annual Convention and NCAA Division I Women’s Volleyball Championship. These weekends are always special because the greatest minds in volleyball come together to teach, learn and enjoy the sport for which they all share a passion.

We did not have the opportunity to attend any of the sessions, but we met coaches who hosted Dig Pink® events, saw old friends from coaching days and had a blast at the championship matches! A highlight of the trip was attending the AVCA All-America/Players of the Year Banquet and listening to the accomplishments and talents of the nation’s top college volleyball players. The Side-Out/AVCA National Dig Pink® Award winners were also announced at the banquet. These three young women not only committed themselves to raising funds for the Side-Out Protocol, but they also used their involvement in volleyball to serve their communities. The championship games were awesome! The CenturyLink Center was sold out for both the semifinal and final matches, even selling standing room ony tickets. The final match set a record for attendance at an NCAA volleyball single match (17,561). Our photos below tell a more complete story. We are already looking forward to next year’s convention in Columbus, OH!

And here’s a video of the final play!

It sure was an exciting night!! Congratulations to Nebraska Volleyball, 2015 NCAA Division I champs! #NCAAVB
