Fairfax, VA — September 20, 2011 — In its ongoing efforts to support volleyball education, The Side-Out Foundation has teamed up with the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) to provide free memberships for NAIA, NJCAA and NCCAA assistant volleyball coaches. Any NAIA, NJCAA or NCCAA volleyball team that donates $2,000 to support breast cancer research and patient services through Side-Out’s Dig Pink® events will receive one assistant coach annual AVCA membership.
If the assistant coach already has an annual membership, he/she can choose to either give the membership to an administrator of the school or have it added to his/her current membership, to take effect when the current membership expires. Both the AVCA and Side-Out are excited about this new incentive and look forward to working with college teams interested in making an impact in their communities and in the lives of breast cancer patients everywhere.

The Side-Out Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 2004. Inspired by one mom and embraced by the entire sport of volleyball, the mission of The Side-Out Foundation is to educate young athletes and their communities about breast cancer, both with respect to prevention and treatment, and to fund cutting edge breast cancer research. Side-Out is focused on changing the way breast cancer is treated forever.
The term side-out refers to a situation in volleyball when one team wins a point while its opponent is serving, thereby regaining serve or control of play. It is hoped that Side-Out will do the same for breast cancer patients, providing them with the support, education and best available treatments to regain control of their lives.
