August 21, 2014 ā The story of The Side-Out Foundation began in 2004. Ten years later, the phrase Dig PinkĀ® is well known throughout the volleyball community and beyond, and national volleyball qualifiers have a Dig PinkĀ® day. The Side-Out Protocol, a pilot study for patients with metastatic (stage 4) breast cancer was created, and researchers completed phase 1 in 2013. Patients continue to enroll in phase 2 of the study and volleyball players, coaches and fans continue to fund-raise with their schools and clubs.
There is much to celebrate on our ten year anniversary, and we are proud to present the Side-Out Story, a story of generosity and persistence. Ā Thank you for helping us toĀ further treatment options for patients with late stage cancer. Ā It is truly a wonderful tribute to Gloria and the legacy she left behind.
